THE ROAD RACE.
THE PROTEST DISMISSED. BALANCE OF PRIZES. The protest lodged in connection with Saturday’s circular road race was considered by the committee yesterday and after investigation of all the circumstances, the protest was dismissed. The grounds of the protest were that A. J. Coleman, who finished seventh, having sustained a puncture at Mangorei, fitted on another front wheel obtained from rhe cycle ridden by Wheeler, who bad broken down owing to an accident to his handlebars. It was submitted that Coleman was not entitled io prize money on this account. However, as there was nothing in the rules against this, the committee ruled that Coleman was within his rights and the balance of the prizes have been allotted as follows: A. -T. COLEMAN (Ngaere), 25 minutes ( £2 2s and set of tyres); time, shrs. 17min 7 H. L. MOLES (New Plymouth), 37 minutes (£2 2s and set of tyres); time. shrs. 30min. ’2lsecs. 8 G. WYLIE (Christchurch), 28 minutes ( £1 10s and set of tyres); time. shrs. 24min. 27secs 9 J. "WELSH (Christchurch). 25 minutes (£1 10s) ; time, shrs. 22min. 48eec? 10
