COUNTERFEIT COIN.
A SERIOUS CHARGE.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, October 13. Thomas Nelson Millars was charged in the Police Court with having made counterfeit ooin with intent to make it pass for current silver coin. He was remanded to October 19. The chief detective opposed an application for bail and eaid counterfeit coin had been circulating throughout 'the Dominion for some months. Quite a lot of counterfeit coin was found on the premises where accused was arrested. He admitted he had freely circulated counterfeit coin about the city. The charge was laid under the section of the Crimes Act which made the person convicted liable to imprisonment for life. Mr. Poynton, S.M., fixed bail at £lOOO-.
