CIRCULAR ROAD RACE. ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-DAY. For the round-the-mountain race to-day complete arrangements have been made by the committee to meet the needs of the riders on the route, while everything possible has been done to keep the public well posted in the progress of the race with progress reports to be sent to the secretary (Mr. E. L. Humphries) from Opunake, Kaponga, Eltham, ind Stratford. The break in the wet weather yesterday afternoon has given the roads a chance to dry a little, and it is expected that some good times will be put up. The starting place is the corner of Gill aud Currie Streets and the first men will be sent away by the starter (Mr. A. Hansen) at 9.30. The race will finish at the racecourse, the leading riders being expected about 3 o’clock. Riders will enter the course by the- gate t,n Avenue Road and will ride round the reverse way of the track, finishing opposite the tolalisator. A programme of motor cycle races and steeplechase events for the High School boys and territorials and senior cadets has been arranged for the racecourse and some good sport is promised, in addition to the excitement of the finish of the big race. HIGH SCHOOL STEEPLECHASE. LISI OF YVINNERS. The list of winners of the Boys’ High School steeplechase since its inception hi 1912 will no doubt prove of interest to those who have been connected with the school in. the past decade. 1 From 1912 to 1917 the course started from the school, traversed the Avenue Road to a r-oint just past the bridge, thence cut across country to Mangorei Road, along Lemon Street, and up the gully to the school again. This couorse was about miles long. Since 1918 (the golf links course, nearly four miles in length, has been used, and in that year the steeplechase was divided into two sections, one for seniors and the other for juniors (those under 14), the junior course being slightly under two miles.
