Mr. G. E. Mannering, manager of the Christchurch branch of the" Union Bank of Australia, was a passenger from England by the Ruahine this week. He is accompanied by Mrs. Mannering.
Resolutions of sympathy were passed to the relatives of the late Mrs. W. A. Collis and the late Mr. H. Broadmore at last night’s annual meeting of the Pukekura Park Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Mr. Arthur Ambury has been elected a life member of the Pukekura Park Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in recognition of his* past valuable services to the club. Mr. Ambury was for many years president of the club. Commissioner Hoggard, the new chief of the Salvation Army, was given an enthusiastic welcome and tendered a civic reception at Wellington yesterday. —Press Assn. Messrs. E. Maxwell, W. C. Green, G. Gibson (Rahotu), J. Hine and J. Whitehead (Tikorangi) left for Wellington by the mail train yesterday morning. They will appear before the Parliamentary Committee to give evidence in opposition to the Dairy Produce Control Bill. An Auckland telegram states that Mr. Frank W. E.
