In the Houstf to-day, Dr. A. K. Newmar (Wellington East) asked the Minister of Mines whether, seeing that the Japanest are successfully extracting iron and steel from their large amounts of ironsand, th< Government would make inquiries so tha; the ironsand of New Zealand may be mad« useful.

The Hon. G. J. Anderson (Miniater o: Mines) replied: “Inquiries will be made »i to the production of iron and steel by th< Japanese from titaniferous ironsand.”
