HIDE AND SKIN SALES. Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., report that prices for sheepskins advanced Id to IJd per lb at their Stratford sale on Tuesday. Hides also appreciated id, and calfskins Ad to Id per lb. Following is the range of prices: Medium crossbred skins 6|d to 8d per lb, coarse do. 4Jd to sd, lambs’ 4d to 6Jd, ox hides 6 7-8 d to Bsd, cowhides 6id to 7sd; calfskins (best sorts) 6s to 7a 3d, light 4s 6d to 6s, faulty 2s to 4s 6d. The above prices go to show that the best results are obtained under competition at these sales. CHEESE MARKET. ADVANCE FOR CANADIAN. Mr. G. H. Buckeridge, agent for Henry A. Lane and Co., has received the following cable message from London: “Canadian cheese, present price 112 s c.i.f.; stocks i light; market active at the advance.” I (The last quotation was 100 s.) LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, woolly hoggets 22s to 27s 6d; good shorn competition by Home and French buyers j active, and prices, compared with close of preceding series, in sellers’ favor; opening catalogues not representative. Compared with last sales’ closing rates, prices are higher by about 5 to 7} per cent, for medium and coarse greasy crossbred; 71 to 10 per cent, for merino; and 10 per cent, for fine greasy crossbred.” SYDNEY WOOL SALES, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Prices at Westfield to-day were: Beef.—Large yarding; heavy prime ox slightly easier, lighter sorts sold readily at lates rates; extra-choice ox 25s per 100 lb, choice and prime 21s to 245, good 18s co 20s; choice young cow and heifer 18s to 22s per 100 lb, other 13s to 17s. Sheep.—Medium yarding; values unchanged; prime woolly wethers 30s to 335, medium prime 27s to 30s, others 23s to 275, prime shorn wethers (heavy) 31s, medium shorn 25s to 28s, others 20s to 245; ewes (prime) 224 s to 275, shorn 25s 6d, medium shorn 22s 6d; (vololy hoggets 22s to 27s 6d; good shorn hoggets 24s 9d. calves.—Average yarding; late rates; runners £2 10s to £4; heavy vealers £2 5s to £2 17s 6d, medium £1 10s to £2; fresh dropped 4s to 10s. Pigs.—Good, yarding; values for fats about the same; stores sold readily at advanced prices; choppers £2 to £3, baconers £2 15s to £3 ss, porkers £2 5s to £2 15s, weaners 10s to 225, stores 15s to £1 10s.
