(From Our Own Correspondent.) October 10. The Presbyterian annual tea and concert takes place on Wednesday. October 11 This is an annual function which is always looked forward to hv| the church members and their friend’. A first-class entertainment is being Provided. „ ■ The Tikoranei Hall Committee, wh enlarged their hall and added a supper room' have reason to thank the younger veneration of the community for putting their shoulders to the wheel to .make the hall free of debt. At the commeneement of the winter the debt balance stood at £5O. and by inaugurating euchre parties and dances they wiped this out. _ Umt year we had a visit from sailors r,r e’-- TUM.S. Philomel, who spent thencamping on the Waitara beach. C„ mdence between Mr. E. C. Jones, the chairman of the seaside society, and the sailors has elicited the fact that thev are again desirous of spending their leave here. The defence department are being communicated with, with a view of borrowing tents, and if the request is agreed to a project will be further proceeded with to hold a provincial bov scout camp. Tins won d he a splendid idea, as the sailors could, rive the boys valuable information. "■ The Waitara Brass Band is in practice in view of the Stratford March Gras contest. The conductor deserves every praise for the way he has brought the band on. __
