(From Our Own Correspondent.) October 10. A very narrow escape from a fatal accident occurred here to-day. Miss Cottier, who had gone too near the edge of the cliff left by the old gravel pit, fell, and was seriously hurt in falling to the deep pond of the old gravel pit. She received medical attention and was sent to the New Plymouth hospiLovers of entertainment should not miss next Thursday’s euchre party and dance at the Inglewood Town Hall, which will be in aid of the local soldiers memorial fund. Attractions of the evening are a waltzing competition, for which entries have already been received from Eltham. New Plymouth, Stratford and Waitara. For the euehre r-ompetition prizes of 4-ton of coal by Mr Stewart'and an afternoon tea set by Mr. T. Lindsay are to be competed for/
