THE MINERS’ DEADLOCK.
MEN RETURNING TO WORK. Sydney, Oct. 6. As the result of a compulsory conference between the northern coal owners end the Miners’ Federation, work will be resumed at the Westwallsend colliery on Monday. Received Oct. 6, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 6. The coal-miners have filed an affidavit with the Coal Tribunal, requesting a compulsory conference with the owners with reference to the log deficiency and pillar questions. The conference between the miners and the proprietors on the question of installing electric safety-lamps has commenced.
