law-breakers sentenced. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Oct. 3. In the Supreme Court, William Joseph Fox, for forgery, was sentenced to two years’ reformative treatment; Cyril Victor Barker, for breaking, entering and theft, was sentenced to three years’ reformative treatment. THEFT BY FIREMAN. Christchurch, Oct. 3. Charles Gerald Balfour, a married man, aged 25, pleaded guilty to the theft of binoculars, valued at £lB, the property of C. A. Kestell, an employee of the Lyttelton Times. Balfour was fireman on duty at the Times Office fire and appropriated the binoculars. The police stated that he had two years’ service with the brigade, from which he had been discharged because of the theft. Accused was remanded for a week for the probation officer’s re. port.
