MOTOR-CYCLING.

NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. ACCELERATION TEST. Splendid weather favored the New Plymouth Motor Cycle Club on Saturday for their second run of thb season. A start was unade from the New Plymouth post office at 2 o’clock, some 30 machines taking part in the run. Koru Road was chosen for the accelleration test. Twenty-three riders competed in the various classes for a 220-yard test. Starting from a standing start, every rider had to change up through all three gears before reaching the finishing post. Some particularly fine riding was shown through the day, the light-weights especially showing very fast accelleration power. The only lady rider (Mrs. McHardy) put up a fine performance, but met with misfortune in changing to top gear, which lost her a place. The following are the results: — Light-weights (up to 4 h.p.)—H. Rowe (A.8.C.), beat L. Smith (Douglas), time 13 3-ssec.; R. H. Baillie (Douglas) beat FSykes (Harley-Davidson), time 16 3-ssec.: JCrockett (Royal Ruby) beat R. H. Balllie (Douglas), tiime 15 2-ssec. In the final Rowe beat Crockett; time, 14 4-ssec. Heavy-weights (machines 5-6 h.p. and over). —L. Bank (Indian). 18 2-ssec. ; T. W. Rowe (Indian). 14sec.; R. Cocker (Indian), 14sec.: G. Ramsbottom (Dayton), 14sec. ; L. A. McHardle (Indian), 14sec. . B. Crockett (Henderson), 13 3-ssec.; F. Sykes (Indian), 14sec.; K. Allen (Indian), 16 3-ssec.; C. Allen (Indian), 14 2-ssec. Side-car machines.—A. Kretschmer (Douglas), 19 4-ssec.; L. A McHardie (Indian), 16 4-ssec.; T. W. Rowe (Indian), 16 l-ssec.; Mrs. McHardy (Indian), 17 2-ssec. A 100 yards slow race was then held, H. Rowe (Douglas) winning in Imin. 7 2-ssec." Refreshments were then provided, and everyone taking part in the run had a most enjoyable day’s sport. Mr. T.
