WAITARA.

(From Gur Own Correspondent.) The Monakorihi Golf Club, Waitara, which had a short life just before the war, was revived this year, and is now on a good footing, both financially and numerically, and no doubt next season will see a -bigger increase in membership. On Saturday last the new pavilion was opened by the president (Mr. S. G. Fraser). Mr. Fraser congratulated the club on having acquired a pavilion, which was most necessary. The club was indebted to Mr. Procter for doing the painting gratis; also to individual members for contributing to a loan. No doubt the fact of having a club house would make a big difference in the membership next season. The course was a very fair one, with ideal surroundings, and should prove an asset to the town. Afternoon tea was provided by the ever energetic ladies, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent. Mr. R. H. Lawrence, secretary for the recent flower show, wag the recipient of a rose bowl and atternon tea set at a committee meeting held on Tuesday last, for the excellent work he had done as secertary. Special thanks were also given to the ladies for their untiring efforts in connection with the sale of work. The balance sheet presented was considered very satisfactory. The total receipts amounted to £l6O and thp expenditure to £45, leaving a balance of £ll5.
