CANTERBURY MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The potato market is scarcely so buoyant ns last week, due to quantities going north. Tha Koromiko, sailing on Monday, is understood to be taking an average consignment. In the early part of the week, up to £6 12s 6d at country stations was paid for whites, and £3 10s for Dakotas in several cases of a few small lots, and £6 for reds. To-day’s quotation is approximately 5s less. Although farmers are not offering much more liberally, there are still enough potatoes available to provide fairly full shipments. Offers generally are confined to moderate lots, which would appe».r to indicate that reserves in growers’ hands small. There has been some activity during the past day or two in milling wheat. Considerable quantities, which previouslj' failed to reach the high standard set for export, have been purchased. Fowl wheat is worth about 4s 2d to 4s 3d f.o.b. There seems to be little interest in the pool proposal for the disposal of undergrade wheat. Very little has developed in the oats export . business. The local rise has about wiped out the margin previously available for export. Cocksfoot is a shade brighter, but there is very little life in other branches of seeds. LONDON METAL MARKETS.
