ARCTIC PERILS.
RESCUE SHIP SAFE. FAILURE OF EXPEDITION. By Telegraph —Press Assn —Copyright. Received Sept. 29, 8.30 p.m. New York, Sept. 29. Mr. Steffansson, the explorer, to-day received a telegram from Nome, stating that the schooner Teddy Bear had arrived at Nome safely, after fighting through the ice in the Arctic, where she was almost helplessly adrift. The message said that the relief expedition was a failure. Mr. Steffansson says he intends to send another relief expedition, which may be formed next July. The Teddy Bear sighted two ships caught in the ice, which she herself escaped from by the aid of block and tackle. (The Teddy Bear was sent some weeks ago to rescue a party of Canadians who sailed for Wrangel Island to claim it under the British flag. The party, after reaching their destination, cabled for relief. Recently a message was received stating that the Teddy Bear was trapped in the ice.)
