PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS. In consequence of the retirement from the police force on superannuation of Superintendent J. McGrath, of Dunedin, some promotions and transfers in the police force are announced:— Inspector Marsack, of Napier, formerly of Wellington, is promoted to the rank of Superintendent, and transferred to Dunedin. Sub-Inspector McNamara, of the Central Police Station, Wellington, is promoted to Inspector, and transferred to Invercargill. Senior-Sergeant Cummings, of Masterton, is promoted to Sub-Inspector, and transferred to Wellington. Sergeant Sweeney, of Wellington, takes charge at Masterton.
