SPEED OF EIGHTEEN KNOTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Conyright. Received Sept. 29, 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 28. A notable advance in marine ing is claimed to be embodied in a vessel which Fairfield’s, Glasgow, have secured the contract to build for the Vancouver service for the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand. The vessel will be fitted with Diesel engines, she. will be 600 feet long and will be capable of a speed of 18 knots.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
