CRICKET.
THE COMING SEASON. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET. A meeting of the management committee of the North Taranaki Cricket Association was held at New Plymouth on Thursday evening, when arrangements were made for competition for the forthcoming season. The senior teams have been grouped into A and B sections, the former to include those clubs desiring to play two-day matches, and the other the clubs which intend to play only one-day matches. The A section will consist of the New Plymouth, Western Park. Old Boys and High School Clubs, and the B section will include Inglewood, Urenui, Waitara, Tikorangi. Harbor Works. Western Park, Bell Block and New Plymouth. It will be seen that some of the teams which last season played in the junior competition have - been graded seniors for this year. Junior or C grade teams will play one-day matches, the following clubs having entered teams for this competition: — Waitara. Urenui, Brixton, High School IL. High School 111., Technical College, Old Boys. An endeavor is being made to get another entry in the competition so as to avoid a bye' each week. The winner of the two sections in the senior competition will play - off a fou~innings’ match to decide the championship. Levies and affiliation fees were fixed ns follow : A grade teams to pay 2s fid per playing member in addition to the affiliation fee. B grade teairns £2 2s. and juniors £1 Is affi”ation, and schools 10s fid for each team. All fees must be paid to thq association on or before December 1. The date for receiving entries for the com- ; petition was fixed as October 7. It was decided to suggest to the South ; Taranaki Association that the North v. South match should be played on December 2. The Rev. W. J. Elliott is to he asked to act as sole selector of representative teams in North Taranaki. - No definite amount was fixed for ground fees, hut it was resolved that when a country j team plays on the sports ground the town team • is to pay the ground fees. The amount of the fee will he decided upon when arrangements with the Sports Ground Committee are completed. The imanagement committee will meet on the third Thursday in each month, and will be pleased to consider suggestions from any club for the improvement of the game in this district.
