DAIRY PRODUCE CONTROL.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —As immediately after his election as member for the Taranaki electorate, Mr. Smith rightly expressed his intention of serving the whole of the electors of the district, irrespective of party, will he kindly explain the meaning of a paragraph appearing in to-day’s issue of the Daily News re a conference held last Saturday between himself and his country committees for the purpose of discussing the proposed legislation for the control of dairy produce, when Mr. Smith explained the Bill—of which he had a copy—in detail? While the attendance may have been representative of Mr. Smith’s country committees, I question his action in withholding this information from those farmers who were not so represented. No doubt they will learn the contents of that elusive Bill in good time and secure the service of some outside member to guard their interests.—l am, etc., S. VICKERS. Omata, September 25.
