SUPREME COURT.
GREYMOUTH CASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Greymouth, Sept. 22. At the Supreme Court, Arthur Earnest Taylor Dennison, who pleaded guilty in the lower court to bigamy, was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. The evidence showed accused had a wife and two children in England. He had a good war record. He enlisted in the Dominion, living again with his wife in the Old Country during the war. Returning he went through the form of marriage with an Otira girl. Henry Newton, found guilty of the theft of two blankets and a quilt from the Dominion Hotel at Blackball, was remanded to Wednesday for sentence. An action has commenced, the National Mortgage Co. v. Mrs. M. A. Thornton, for the recovery of £590 advanced as deposit for the purchase of a farm at Ngahere. The defence contends the sons of defendant are liable. AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Auckland, Sept. 21. The following prisoners were sentenced by Mr. Justice Salmond to-day:— Hector Smith, for breaking and entering and theft at Dannevirke, five months’ imprisonment; George Anthony Silva, for theft at Kaitoke. five months* imprisonment; Robert Brown, for theft, two years’ reformative treatment; John David Mason and Roy Cameron Morrison were found guilty of forgery and uttering. Mason was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment; Stewart Rayyears’ probation and Morrison to three mond McArthur, for forgery and attempted false pretences, was admitted to two years’ probation; Donald James Lowrie, for breaking, entering and theft at Taihape, received two years’ reformative treatment.
