ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
SUDDEN DEATH IN TRAM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Sept. 22. Alexander Campbell, single, aged 69, died suddenly last night in an outward bound Papanui tramcar. A SHUNTER KILLED. Westport, Sept. 22. James Edward Sara, a shunter, 36 years of age, and having a wife and two children, was killed in the Westport railway yards at 7.45 this evening, through being run over by a truck whilst engaged in shunting operations. Deceased was an ex-New Zealand champion on the trombone. Work was suspended on the waterfront for the evening. KILLED BY A DRAY. Christchurch, Sept. 22. Hugh McFarlane, a married carter employed by the Tramway Board, fell from a dray at the gasworks this afternoon, the wheel of which passed over his body. He died while beiqg removed to the hospital.
