WAITOMO COUNTY.

KOADS AND POWER. DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. A deputation from the Waitomo County, represented by Messrs. Weir (chairman), Bowick (Tangitu Riding), and Boddy (Awakino Riding), interviewed the Hon. J. <3. Coates at Wellington about subsidies and grants for roads to help settlers in their districts. The Minister, replying, said so much wag required in the Waitomo and Taumarunui electorates that he would have to consider cutting down what was required for main roads, such as the Awakino Valley and Ohura. A member of the deputation said lie would not object, as the producing settler deserved firet consideration. A further deputation, Messrs. Tolme and Boddy, asked the Minister for a definite answer to the request from the Wairere Hydro-electric Power Board that they should be allowed to proceed with the work, as they had everything in order. The Minister replied that they could go ahead at once. Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., introduced the deputation.
