BOXING.
TOURNAMENT AT ELTHAM. Boxing enthusiasts will be afforded a treat at Eltham on Wednesday next, when a splendid programme wilil be provided by the Eltham Boxing Association. The main attraction will be a fifteen rounds professional heavyweight bout between Andy Greaves (Auckland) and Bill Scott (New Plymouth). It is scarcely necessary to go into details of these men’s boxing capabilities, as both are well known hard fighters. Scott will be remembered by the excellent bout he had with McAsey some time ago, and boxing critics state that Greaves’ bout with Jock Graham was the best ever staged in Taranaki. The public enjoy clean, hard fighting, and it is to provide this that the Eltham Association has matched these two men.
The amateur classes are well catered for, and close bouts should be the order of the evening. The following have been matched and are reported to be in excellent condition: Feather-weight, C. Coulter (Eltham) v. S. Hope (New Plymouth) ; welter, Pearce v. C. Duggan (Normanby) ; fly, N. Childs (Stratford) v. Brooking (Stratford), Marter (Hawera) v. James (Stratford) ; light-weight, W. Coates (New Plymouth) v. Dick Stewart (Hawera) ; bantam, W. Mancer (Eltham) v. R. Dudding (Stratford) ; heavy, L. Pepperell (New Plymouth) v. Tuku (New Plymouth).
