EDUCATION BOARD’S EXPERIENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 21. Members of the Education Board find themselves called upon by the Audit Department to refund £1 Is 7d each. The board paid a teacher, whose books had been destroyed in a school fire, £3O to enable her to replace them. The department condemned the payment as improper, and demanded a refund. The chairman oaid m< m .rs had better pay up. One member said he had already done so under strong protest.
