WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At an executive meeting of the Chamber of Commerce it was resolved that the president (Mr. W. Johns) should represent the Chamber on the deputation to Wellington, and place before the Minister the requirements of the district. Mr. Johns said he also intended to endeavor to get the Waterways Commission to visit Waitara in regard to river erosion. The Minister is to be written to regarding the dangerous railway crossing close to Waitara Road, the Chamber .of Commerce suggesting that the department should install a sound signal there. The Chamber will ask the Taranaki County Council to improve the dangerous turn at the foot of Big Jim’s Hill. At the examination in' theory of music held at the Waitara Convent last June, the following pupils were successful: —Intermediate: Aline Wells, Hazel Johnston. Advanced Junior: Lulu Coulter (honors). Junior: Vera Hicks (honors). Ena Taylor (honors). Beryl Frost, E. Hosie, K. Stimpson, J. Ford. Preparatory. Lucy Perger. The Mahoe has taken up her running again between 'here and Mokau after enforced idleness through engine trouble. 'She will be kept busy for a while clearing the goods from the Harbor Board shed.
