CANTERBURY MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Oats are somewhat firmer as a result of Home values presenting a slight margin for export, and some shipping from the south has already taken place. Should the present international complications become worse the market would be influenced, and this possibly may have something to do with the present firming. A’s are worth to 2s 44 and B's to 2s 2d at country stations. The potato market is steady, prices being a shade firmer. Up to £6 at country stations has been offered for whites, and from £5 10a to £5 12s 6<l for dakotas, and reds from £5 to £5 ss. Farmers are still offering very sparsely. The Katoa sails on Thursday with, it is understood, only a moderate consignment, the required space being unavailable on account of other produce being previously booked. The following steamer will not until next week. All classes of seeds are very quiet. LONDON MARKETS. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated September 16, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : MEAT. Market remains steady for mutton and lamb. Beef market steady. New Zealand Mutton.—Lightweight: September 16, 7%d to 8d; September 9,7 d to 8d; September 2, 6%d to 7%d.
