The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th Instant:— Tallow.—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton 40s 9d per cwt., good beef 38s 6d per cwt., mixed 33s 6d per cwt. Demand still very slow. NEWTON KING, LTD., REPORT. At Urenui on September 4 an Improved sale was greatly in evidence In both store and dairy pens. Both sections were well filled and almost everything sold. Store cows 30s to £2, forward do £3 ss, fat do £3 15s to £4 12s Gd, yearling steers 21s, forward bullocks £3 17s 6d, light fat do £6 10s, yearling heifers 28s to £2 16s, Jersey do £4 2s 6d, empty Holstein heifers £4 7s 6d, 2-year Jersey bull £7, springing heifers £4 15s to £7, springing cows £5 to £6 10s, better classes £9 to £l2. At Stratford on the following day a moderate yarding of stores realised late ruling rates, store to forward cows being the only class to show an Improvement. There was a good yarding of dairy cattle which sold under fair competition. Prices showed an improvement. The dairy sale was better than the previous one, there being quite a good enquiry for both cows and heifers. The offering on the whole lacked good quality. Ewes in lamb 15s, store cows 29s to 365. fresh conditioned do £3 10s, fat cows £4 12s Gd to £4 17s, extra heavy prime do £7 Gs, 2-year-old steers £2 8s 6d to £2 10s, 3-year-old do £3 7s, yearling heifers 30s to 43s fid. better sorts £4 2s 6d to £4 12s fid, Holstein empty heifers £4 3s 6d to £4 7s 6d, in-calf heifers £4 5s to £5 ss, springing do £6 to £7, medium quality do £8 10s to £lO 10s, springing cows £6 10s to £lO. At Rahotu September 7 a full yarding of store cattle came forward and was fully cleared under snirlted competition. Dairy cattle wore penned in oversupply, but a good clearance was made nevertheless. Store cows 35s to £2 7s. fat do £4 15s, yearling steers 28s, 2-year-nld do £2, forward 3-year do £3 15s to £4 ss, yearling heifers 34s fid to £2 10s. Jersey do £4 12s Gd to £5 7s 6d, empty heifers £3 5s to £4 2s Gd, springing heifers £6 ios to £8 10s. choice Jersey do £ll, dairy cows £7 to £8 ss. At. Walwakalho horse fair on the saime day a fair entry ortne forward, the majority of which sold. The quality on the whole was not of a very high standard. Quotations were,: Good thropouarter draught gelding £37, draught aged £27 10s. milk carters £l6 to £23. hacks £3 10s to £4. At Inglewood horse fair on Friday. Sth Inst., a good entry was submitted, practically the whole nf which sold. There was steady enquiry for all classes and a good sale is reported. Quotations were: Heavy draughts £37. three-quarter dn £2B 10s to £32, milk Carters £lO to £23, light harness £7 to £l2, hacks to £B. At Stony River horse fair on 11th inst. there was good enquiry. Quotations: Light draughts £32 to £35. half to three quarter do £2O to £2B, half draughts (milk carters) £l5 to £2O, hack and harness horses to £l5, ponies £5. At Stony River on 12th inst. there was a fair yarding of stores, all classes of which met with a good sale. There was also a good offering of dairy cattle and enquiry for this class was also of a more spirited nature. Mixed weaner heifers £2 10s, 2-year empty Shorthorn to £3 to £3 15s. store cows 35b. folward do £3 ss, light fat do £4 to £5 12s 6d, forward bullocks £5 Is to £5 Ils, small store nigs 255, ewes and lambs 255; m.s. hoggets IGs, good Jersey springing heifers £l2 10s. smaller and backward do £8 10s to £9 10s. Jersey cross heifers (close up) to £lO, ordinary heifers £5 to £7. best dairy cows to £l2 10s, others up to £lO. WAIKATO STOCK MARKET. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., tLd.. Hamilton, reportsAt the Hamilton sale on Tuesday very few sheep came forward, not sufficient, to fill requirements. Fair quality mixed sheep made to 28s. The beef entry consisted mainly of cows, including some heavy prime cattle. Extra heavy cows sold to £7 ss, good fat cows to £4 10s, killable cows £3 5s to £4 ss, light fat steers £5 5s to £7 15s. The advertised line of three to four year steers created good competition, selling at £3 14s to £4 15s, store cows brought £1 4s. to £2 15s. empty heifers £3 7s Gd. Fat pigs were dull of sale, particularly baconers, me- , dium ’weights making up to £2. Porkers sold better in enmnarison, imaking £1 7s to £1 13s. while well done store pigs made nearly ' as much n« the lighter porkers, a line by rail selling from £1 3s 6d to £1 6s. Weaners I made 9s to 12s. There was a large entry of

dairy cattle, mostly poor quality heifers. For any good sorts buyers competed freely. Best heifers close to profit making £lO to £l2 10s. good heifers £7 to £9 10s, backward and smaller £5 10s to £7 ss, poor and weedy £3 to £5, dairy cows up to £B.
