BELFAST BOMB OUTRAGE. CHILDREN WOUNDED. ENCOUNTERS WITH REBELS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 17, 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 16. A bomb outrage in Belfast killed one and wounded eight. Most of the victims were youths and girls in their teens. The bomb thrower first lit his pipe and then hurled the bomb and ran oil'. One of the wounded has died. Free Staters repulsed a machine-gun rifle fire attack on a post at Cork. Free Staters were thrice ambushed at Donoughmore after a running encounter, and they fought through a fourth ambush without a casualty. One Irregular was killed, one wounded and three taken prisoner. Much ammunition and equipment was captured. Irregulars attacked Free Staters in Tarbert barracks after a day’s fighting. Incendiary bombs were thrown into the building, which burst into flames. The garrison, having exhausted their ammunition, surrendered. Free Staters took thirty-six Irregulars prisoner in sweeping operations in the mountains between Tipperary and Limerick, and captured much equipment and ammunition. General Joseph Ring was killed in an ambush at Bonnieonlon. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. POSTAL STRIKE. REBELS ACTIVE. . London, Sept. 15. Thd Dail rejected a proposal to appoint a committee to inquire into the postal strike with a view to a settlement. Irregulars attacked the Wellington Barracks at Portobello and the Telephone Exchange at Kingsbridge station, Dublin. There was heavy firing B for three hours. The guards at the ex; change turned out and were assailed by bombs and revolvers. Hailes, postal superintendent at Cork, who wm shot on Monday, has died. Other deaths resulted from skirmishes in Cork. Guinness’ brewery offices in Cork were raided and a large* sum of money was stolen. While a military patrol was passing through Dundalk a bomb was thrown from an ex-Protestant churchyard. A Free Stater was killed and others wounded. Irregulars attacked a guard on a bridge in another part of the town. A terrific duel took place, „ which lasted three hours. Householders were obliged to lie on the floor to escape flying bullets. The attackers were beaten off.
