POSITION AT AMRITZAR. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Sept. 14. The position at Amritzar has reached a deadlock, but Akhali bands continue to arrive. The Governor of the Punjab is hastening to Amritzar to see the situation and confer with the leading Sikhs. The disputed land is encircled with barbed wire. It is stated that 500 police are concentrated on it and Akhalis attempting to penetrate the barricade were forcibly repulsed. The police seized two lorry loads of provisions proceeding to Gnrukbagh. it is reported that the Rev. Mr. Gates, of the American Maratha Mission, was murdered at Bijapur (Bombay) on the evening of the 6th. The police arrested a Mohammedan.
