ROYAL CHORAL SOCIETY.
VISIT TO TARASTAKL Further details in connection with the visit of the Royal Wellington Choral Society to Taranaki were arranged last night, when representatives from the New Plymouth musical societies and the Stratford Musical Society met at the Whiteley Church. Messrs. V. N. Lester and P. Thomson represented Stratford, while Messrs. G. J. Lawrence, N. Fulton, R. L. Cooper, D. Morrison, D. H. Thomson, R. Day, P. Coleman, W. F. Packman and A. Veale represented the New Plymouth societies. The chair was tirken ‘by Mr. Lawrence. The visiting society will give three renderings of “The Messiah” in Taranaki in conjunction with the various local societies, and the following dates were fixed: Hawera, December 7; Stratford, December 8; and New Plymouth, December 9. The prices of admission were fixed at 6s, 4s and 2s, It was reported that the Hawera Male Choir had declined to come into the proposal to pool all the expenses and profits, but would agree to pay a third of the travelling expenses of the society and artiste. The New Plymouth and Stratford societies agreed to the pool. „ An invitation is to be extended to singers not in any of the local societies to lend their assistance. Details in the matter of arranging for advertising, printing of tickets, programme, etc., were left in the hands of the local committees, who will also arrange for the billeting of the visitors, ft was hoped that residents able to give accommodation woujd communicate with tht local committees as soon as possible, so that definite arrangements could be made.
