TARANAKI’S NEEDS.
SOME PRESSING MATTERS DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. Word has been received that there if no possibility of either the Prime Minister or the Minister for Public Work* being able to visit Taranaki before th« end of the session, so a deputation, or. ganised by the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, will proceed to Wellington and interview the Ministers on the morning of Thursday, September 28. The deputation will consist of members of the Taranaki Chamber, Waitara, Stratford and Te Kuiti Chambers, Ohura Railway League, Tahora Settlers* Association and the Awakino Settlers’ 1 Association. The Eltham and Auckland Chambers of Commerce have also been invited to send representatives. The matters to be brought before the Ministers are as follow: Metalling the Tangarakau Gorge, thus linking up the Stratford-Okahu-kura railway. Completion of metalling of Great) Northern Road between Mount Messenger and Awakino.
Expediting the construction of the Lower Awakino Valley Road (doing away with the Taumatamaire hill and enabling the provinces of Taranaki and Auckland to be brought more closely together).
Speeding up the New Plymouth-' Wellington express railway service. Putting in hand arrangements for the construction of a bridge over the Mokau river.
The deputation will .leave on the 27th inst. for Wellington.
