At Chicago, Mr. Daugherty (the At-torney-General » presented a petition asking that the temporary injunction granted against the railway strikers be made permanent. The AttorneyGeneral introduced a mass of evidence supporting charges of a gigantic plot involving sabotage and terrorism on the part of strikers, including, it is said, 25 charges of murder, tampering with 60,000 railroad care, burning 14 bridge® and damaging many locomotives. The attorneys representing the strikers suffered a rebuff when Judge Wilkerson, who granted the temporary injunction, rejected the former’s request to be allowed to present arguments on a motion to dismiss the injunction before Mr. Daugherty was allowed to argue for permanency. In the House of Representatives, Mr. Keller (Minnesota) introduced a motion calling for the impeachment of Mr. Daugherty on the ground that the injunction against the railway strikers violates the constitution. The eastern railways have put an emoargo on all freights, except foodstuffs, for the purpose of facilitating the distribution of coal ju eastern States, where a coal famine this winter -is likely.—Aus.-N-Z.
