Thornton’s eleven scored 407 for seven wickets against the Marylebone Cluo’s team to visit South Africa (Sutcliffe 111, Ashton 95, and Hendren 105). The latter completed 2000 runs for the season. Hendren and Ashton added 174 for the fifth wicket in two hours. Kennedy, a Hampshire bowler, has performed the unique feat of capturing 200 wickets.
