Patterson defeated Ingraham, 6—3,*6—3, 7—5. Ingraham played brilliant tennlfr, taking the lead early in both the second and third sets, but Patterson’s superior steadiness told. The Anderson—Williams match was a fine exhibition. Anderson’s superior placing ■*nd speed tired his opponent. WOOD DEFEATS DAVIS. f Received Sept. 12, 8.10 p.m. New York, Sept. 11 Wood defeated Willis Davis, 6—2, 6—4, 6—4. The Californian served with terrific force, but the Australian had no difficulty in handling the returns, also making wonderful recoveries from Davis’ hardest smashes. David led 3—o in the last set, but Wood outplayed and outgeneralled him the rest of the way
