BOXING.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night. Present: Messrs. E. Jackson (chairman), W. Graham, R. Patil, N. B. Howell, A. Baker, C. Grainger, J. Garcia, and C. H. Wynyard (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs. W. N. Stephenson, W. Whitaker, and M. J. Stagpoole. Les. Gleeson wrote asking for a match. Charles Peoples (Auckland) made a similar application on behalf of Stewart Smith, wel-ter-weight, and Harry May, light-weight. The secretary of the Dominion Boxing Council notified that in future 5 per cent, should be deducted from professional purses and forwarded to the council. The secretary submitted a statement showing that there had been a considerable loss over the recent tournament. —It was decided to call an extraordinary meeting of members for Tuesday, September 26, to discuss the position, and to consider the advisability of holding the next tournament at Pukekura Park.
