WRECK OF BATTLESHIP.
ONLY THREE LIVES LOST. NEARLY 900 SAVED. London, August 26. Further arrivals of survivors from the wrecked battleship France, says a'Paris message, reduce the number of those missing to three. The vessel sank in 70ft of water, and it is not likely that she can be raised. A message from Brest states that the warship was unable to manoeuvre after striking a rock or submerged wreckage, owing to a deep rent through which the water flowed in and extinguished the engine-room fires. From 4 a.m. she lay on her side washed by the waves, with 900 aboard.
