According to a telegram from Marion, Illinois, the investigation into the Herrin massacre has been c:.-.ended to cover the responsibility for the riot and the failure of the authorities to call out troops. It is announced that several witnesses are likely to be charged with perjury. FINANCIAL AID FOR AUSTRIA. London, Sept. 6. The Daily Express states that a group of powerful bankers has agreed to offer Austria, subject to the approval of the Reparations Commission, between 20 and 30 millions sterling, secured on Austria’s import revenues, subject to a moratorium for five years and an indemnity.
