BIRD FLIGHT SECRET.
A MOTORLESS SEAPLANE. A SUCCESSFUL TEST. By TelfßTapli.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Sept. 7, 9 p.m. New York, Sept. 6. Mr. Glenn H. Curtiss, the American aeroplane designer, has conducted the first successful flight with his motorless seaplane, which he built with the object of rising from and alighting on the water. The seaplane was towed by a motor-boat at 35 miles an hour, and then the ’plane ascended to a height of 20 feet. It outraced the motor-boat and remained in the air 20 seconds. The day was windless. It is expected that further trials in a stiff breeze will result in higher ascension and a longer time aloft. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
