IN BANKRUPTCY.
DISCHARGES GRANTED. His Honor Mr. Justice Chapman yesterday morning granted discharges in bankruptcy to Charles Edward Carlson and Francis Herbert Flansiburgh Washbourne. Washbourne’s application was opposed by one creditor, who alleged fraud in the contraction of the debt, which amounted to £8 odd. Washbourne entered the box, and, in reply to Mr. Monaghan, for the creditor, stated that the goods handed to him iby Whale in August last year were handed to him voluntarily. He would emphatically deny going behind the counter and taking them. He also disputed the amount of the debt, and said it should be only 6/6. There had been no suggestion of fraud at the meeting of his creditors. His Honor said that in the absence of proof of fraud, and of opposition on the part of the D.0.A., he would grant the application. He commented on the large amounts still outstanding, but said that the creditors were as much to blame as the bankrupt, who could hardly be blamed for carrying on when the creditors were willing to let him have credit.
