REBEL RAIDERS ACTIVE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, September 5. Courtown House, the seat of the Earl of Courtown. near Gorey, was raided during the early mornin? by four disguised men, who demanded arms for the Irish Republican Army. Lord Courtown said he had no arms and offered an old sword. The men next raided the house of the gardener, who used a heavy stick to beat them off. Two shots were fired and the gardener was wounded. Nationalist troops entered a fried fish shop in Dublin at midnight to make a search. A man drew hie revolver and fired point blank. The fire was returned and one man was killed and three wounded. VALUABLE HOME BURNED. Received Sept. 7, 12.50 a.m. London, September 5. Damage estimated at £lOO,OOO was done at Castle Gore at Ballina. County Mayo, the Earl of Arran's county seat, which armed men burned down. Included in the losses were valuable antiques and oil paintings. Simultaneously the Earl of Arran's Essex seat at Brentwood was burgled, but practically nothing wm taken.—Reuter.
