REBUILDING FRANCE.

BIG CONTRACT TO GERMANY. HUGE SUM INVOLVED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 6. 55 pm. Berlin. Sept. 6. A sensation has been caused here in connection with a contract between Herr Stinnee and the general federation of cooperative societies in the French devastated areas, to supply building and other reconstruction materials valued at £130,000.000. The Stinnes concerns will make a profit of 6 per cent. The French presumably entered into this contract by virtue of the Wiesbaden and supplementary agreements, which came into operation on August 1, by which the sufferers of war losses in the devastated regions are entitled to negotiate direct with German firms for supplies of materials, the cost of which may be debited against the claims in respect to indemnities, while German suppliers must secure payment from their own Government. —Aus.-N.Z.
