LAUNCH CAPSIZES.

TWO MEN NEARLY DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wairoa, Last Night. Two men, Milner and Pike, had a narrow escape from drowning this afternoon. They were attempting to cross the Wairoa bar in a fishing launch, and a heavy *ea roller struck the craft, while before it could right itself another capsized the boat. The men were washed off twice, but were eventually rescued in an exhausted condition by Maoris, who were gathering beach wood. The damaged launch was washed up at high tide.
