NEW ZEALAND CHEESE.
STRONG COMPETITOR OF CANADA. The Canadian Grocer, of July 21, says: “Cheese from Canada is meeting competition. Canada is finding New Zealand a dangerous competitor in the cheese market of the United Kingdom, according to a report received by the Trade and Commerce Department from Mr. Harrison Watson, Canadian Trade Commissioner in London. Whil? for many years Canada virtually monopolised the import trade of Great Britain in cheese, Mr. Watson reports that for the five months ending Mav 31, New Zealand supplied the United Kingdom with 802,021 cwt. of cheese out of the total imports of 1,089,797 cwt.”
