SHIPPING RATES.
FREIGHTS REDUCED. FARES TO AMERICA INCREASED. By Telegraph.—Presi Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Sept. 2. The Union Shipping Company has increased the fares to America from £6O to £67 10s first class, from £4O to £46 15s second, and from £27 to £2B 10s third. The Oceanic Company is expected to follow suit in a few days. The fares to New Zealand remain unaltered. Overseas shipping companies have announced reduction in freight to the United Kingdom and the Continent. The freight on tallow has been reduced from 130 s to 90s; wool has been reduced a farthing per lb; the frozen meat rates have also been substantially reduced.
