Dr. Campbell announces that Professor Tucker, of the Lick Observatory, points out that the moon is in advance of its orbit as shown in the nautical almanac,, therefore it is expected the solar eclipse will occur about half a minute earlier than predicted. It is important that observers should be ready to commence operations at any instant from 25 seconds before the almanac times. Ignorance of the fact might seriously upset the observations.
