SOME INTERESTING RECORDS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Sept. 1. The Mitchell library has received a valuable collection of papers of Captain Matthew Flinders,, the explorer, comprising eleven volumes in Flinders’ writing, including the log and journal of H.M. Investigator, also Flinders’ private diary from 1803 to 1814. They contain much interesting information regarding his discoveries and private doings and his term of captivity in the Mauritius. The volumes were presented by Professor Flinders Petrie, a grandson of Flinders, conditional upon the Government erecting a statue to Flinders near the library.
