Rain prevented play in Yorkshire’s last match of the season, against Essex, curtailing the play of the remaining four matches in the county championship, and making draws by both Yorkshire and Notts probable. In this case their positions in the championship will not be altered. Macaulay has definitely decided to join the Marylebone team going to South Africa.
