MOVEMENT IN AMERICA. Vancouver, August 17. The American No-Tobacco League held its annual convention at Minora,. Mississippi, to-day, and passed a resolution denouncing tobacco and calling upon all State Legislatures to pass laws “safeguarding the inalienable rights of non-smokers,” and prohibiting the advertisement of tobacco through newspapers and periodicals. The resolution declares. “Non-smokers have the inherent right to breathe pure air, uncontaminated by the poisonous fumes of tobacco smoke.” It condemns the cinematograph industry for showing pictures with the leading characters actually appearing to enjoy cigars, cigarettes and pipes.
