DISTRICT NEWS,
ARAWHATA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Arawhata school closed for the spring vacation on the 25th. The children gave three cheers for the holidays and sang “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows, and So Say All of Us." The children then voluntarily and unanimously gave three cheers for the teacher. The local dairy factory reopened last, week under the management of Mr. Waters, so now the road rings with the noise of carts plying up and down. “Gloomy winter’s noo awa,” and spring, bright spring, has arrived. The fruit trees are in full blossom. This makes our mouths water, for the year’s stock of jam is fast diminishing. The glorious gold on the cheering daffodil, intenmingled with tho delicate purple of the modest violet, makes one’s heart dance. Lambs frolicking about the hills, and calves skipping In merriment round the paddocks also remind one of the advent of spring, and of the springs of former years.
