DOMINION LADIES’ TOURNEY. YESTERDAY’S PLAY. , By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Napier, Last Night. The ladies’ hockey tournament waa continued to-day in fine weather. Results:— A section.—Wellington 12 befit Feilding nil. B section.—Poverty Bay 3 beat Hawke’s Bay A 2; Hawke’s Bay B 2 beat Manawatu nil. In the A section match Feilding were hopelessly outclassed by Wellington, though they put up a plucky fight against overwhelming odds. Wellington, who made their first appearance, played with splendid combination, and promise to do well in the tournament. Goals were scored by Misses Williams (7), Thomas (3), Martin and Kitto. There was nothing brilliant in th® Hawke’s Bay B-Manawatu match, .It was evenly contested, the whole game being characterised by hard hitting instead of good combination play. Misses Buller and Fisk scored for the winners.
The game of the day was that between Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay A, both giving a great exhibition of hockey. Combination was displayed in the excellent concerted work of the winner*, the forwards being exceptionally brilliant. The stick work on both s’des was clever, while the game was fast and strenuous throughout. Poverty 2 to 1 at half-time, and the sound defence of the visitors gave them victory.
