BOOKKEEPING A PART OF THE BUSINESS. The depression through which the Dominion has been passing has directed attention to a vital deficiency in the' affairs of the great majority of farmers, namely, their failure to keep proper books of accounts. In hundreds of cases where it has been necessary to go into farmers’ affairs, it has been found that the task is complicated almost to impossibility by the absence of. records of transactions. Previously the farmer himself came face to face with this difficulty at least once a year—when he had to compile his income tax schedule. Now that profitable farming is a matter of the employment of business methods, the need is ever-present for efficient bookkeeping and recorded information. At the moment when it is so urgently required, the Pason Taxpayers’ Compiler has made its appearance. A News’ representative has had an opportunity of studying this book, find was surprised at the simplicity to which farmers’ bookkeeping has been reduced by its aid. It provides the bound forms for every imaginable transaction possible on a farm, with plain directions for their use and lucid directions for the subsequent compilation of the taxation returns. By its aid the farmer, after a few minutes spent weekly in making the entries, will at all times be able to ascertain his financial position with exactitude. Furthermore, there are facsimile copies of properly compiled income-tax returns, and terse outlines of the statutes that particularly affect agricultural pursuits. The book will allow of complete records being kept for eight consecutive years. It has the recommendation of the Commissioner of Taxes, and purchasers have fhe right for one year to free advice from' the PaSon Taxpayers’ Bureau, which has at its command some of the Dominion’s best authorities on the subject. Farmers of all classes should make a point of seeing the work. Its advantages are self-evident ahd commend themselves.
